Bobby Deol has created quite a buzz with his brutal role of antagonist in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. The scene where the actor also goes shirtless to fight with Ranbir Kapoor, who plays the lead role in Animal, is receiving heaps of praise from fans. Bobby, in a recent interview, shared the rigorous workout routine that he followed to attain this chiseled physique. The actor also revealed that he quit carbs for two months before shooting for the film.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Bobby shared how he maintained a disciplined lifestyle after his role in Race 3 (2018). He said, “I started working out, like really working out seriously, when I was offered Race 3. From then on it has been six years and I have been on it. I always told myself that ‘you have to be prepared, you have to be fit because anybody can come knocking on your door.’”

Talking about sacrificing food, Bobby said, “It is a really big sacrifice to make because I love food and I don’t think right and wrong when I am eating. But I had to control my diet. For maintaining a good physique, 70 percent is your diet and 30 percent is your workout. I really trained hard and two months before shooting Animal, I went off-carbs completely. I only had a protein and veggies-rich diet. I would do cardio both morning and evening and would also work out in between that. I would spend three hours in the gym in a day because I had to train for that period. I was always exhausted but I kept pushing myself.”

Sharing his food habits, Bobby said, “I am not a foodie. I like simple food. I love ghar ka makhan. I don’t get up and think about aloo parathas and lassi. I grew up on a vegetarian diet because in my house only vegetarian food was made. But I indulge sometimes, who wouldn’t love an aloo ka paratha? I prefer aloo ka paratha over pizza but you shouldn’t eat carbs I feel. I have to maintain this physique because every other person wants me to remove my shirt.”

Apart from Animal, Bobby has also received praise for his roles in the web series Aashram and the film Love Hostel. Animal is going strong at the box office and has collected Rs 527 crore worldwide.
