A 24-year-old woman in Kolkata has alleged that her estranged boyfriend raped her in a moving car after spiking her cold drink earlier this week, even as the accused filed a counter-complaint, accusing her of kidnapping him, the police said.
“The woman is an aspiring actor who was allegedly raped. A counter-complaint has been submitted by the man alleging he was confined in a flat by some people. We are probing the case from all angles,” a police official said.
The man, who is associated with the Bengali film industry, was found in a flat in the area where the alleged crime occurred, with his hands and legs tied.
Meanwhile, the woman was to record her statement before the magistrate on Wednesday but she failed to appear.
According to police sources, the woman has been staying in Kolkata for the last few years for her studies. As per her complaint, she came in contact with the man one-and-a-half years ago and the duo were in a relationship. A few months later, they allegedly broke up.
The man, who had allegedly been trying to contact the girl in the last month, called her on December 4 and asked her to meet him. The woman alleged that he took her in a car on the pretext of taking her on a long drive, gave her a cold drink that was spiked, and raped her.
The man, on the other hand, lodged a complaint against the woman, accusing her of kidnapping him.
