A special NIA court in Jammu on Thursday attached four properties of members of the Lashkaer-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group who were allegedly involved in the 2015 attack on a BSF convoy on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway near Udhampur district. The properties were attached under Section 33 (1) of the UAPA.
The early morning attack on August 5, 2015 at Narsoo Village of Udhampur district had claimed the lives of two BSF personnel, injuring 13 other soldiers. In retaliatory action, one terrorist was killed and his accomplice, named Naveed, was apprehended. The attack was the first in the district in over a decade.
Land measuring 13 marlas belonging to Fayaz Ahmed Itoo alias Fayaz Khar at Khudwani village in Kulgam district was attached. Three properties belonging to Khursheed Ahmed Bhat alias Khursheed Alam Bhat were also attached. These include land measuring 2 kanal, 4.25 marlas at Chursoo village in Awantipora of Pulwama district; a double-storied residential house and one single-storey residential house at Chursoo village that have joint ownership; and land measuring one kanal.
On November 14, the NIA had attached properties of two key Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives who allegedly helped Pakistani terrorist Naveed Jatt escape from police custody from a Srinagar hospital in 2018 by attacking a police team. Jatt was believed to have been behind the killing of journalist Shujaat Bukhari outside his office at Residency Road in June 2018.
