Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande Thursday urged the graduating engineers of the Indian Army to incorporate technologies like drone for survey, virtual reality and 3D printing in the execution of combat engineering projects.
The Army Chief was speaking at the scroll presentation ceremony at the College of Military Engineering (CME) in Pune, where the officers attending the Engineer Officers Degree in Engineering Course (EODE) and Technical Entry Scheme (TES) courses were awarded degrees in engineering.
“Your focus should extend beyond conventional methodologies, incorporating new concepts and cutting-edge digital engineering practices. You need to be proficient in leveraging advanced technologies like carrying out surveys by drones and augmented and virtual reality and its usage to visualise and simulate project scenarios.” The Chief said in his address.
Gen Pande, himself an alumnus of the CME, said, “New structural technologies and rapid construction methods have come to the fore in the construction landscape. These include precast construction, pre-engineered building 3D printing and light gauge construction. So absorb these current best practices and introduce them in your execution.”
