While Revanth Reddy was taking oath as the new chief minister of Telangana in Hyderabad on Thursday, workers in another part of the city were busy dismantling the iron barricades that guard the CM’s residence.

In a bid to make the CM’s office, which doubles as his residence, more accessible for people, Reddy, while addressing a gathering at the swearing-in ceremony said the barricades and the iron fence around Pragati Bhavan were being dismantled.

In a video posted on X by ANI, workers were seen removing the iron barricades, with the police aiding them in the process.

Renaming Pragati Bhavan as ‘Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan’, Reddy said a ‘Praja Darbar’ would be held at 10 AM on December 8. Revanth Reddy has become the second CM of the state that was carved out of undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2014.

Eleven other ministers were also sworn in by Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Thursday afternoon, in the presence of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad. Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka became the state’s first Dalit deputy chief minister.
