The LT Marg police on Monday arrested six persons for allegedly barging into the office of an angadia at Kalbadevi in south Mumbai, confining its employees and escaping with Rs 4.05 crore in cash. The police said the incident took place on Sunday following which the accused were traced and arrested from Gujarat.

According to the police officials, the arrested persons have been identified as Harshad Chetanji Thakur (26), Rajuba Pralhad Singh Waghela (21), Ashokbha Jethuba Waghela (26), Charanbha Nathuba Waghela (26), Mehulsingh Jesuba Dhabi (24) and Chirajji Thakur.

The police said that Harshad is a former employee at the angadia named KDM enterprises and as he is aware about the routine at the office, it appears that he is the mastermind in the case.

An officer said, “As per the complaint, four persons barged inside the shop. They tied the hands and legs of two employees following which they took the cash from their safe and escaped.”

The employees had then reported the matter at LT Marg police station and a case was registered late on Sunday.

The police added they started off by scrutinising the footage of the CCTV cameras installed on the premises of the shop and also the neighbouring areas.

“We managed to get some footage and showed it to our local informers and the two employees, who then identified Harshad. He was spotted loitering around the office at the time of the incident,” said an officer.

The police said that Harshad and his accomplice were then located in Gujarat following which a team was sent and they were arrested. “We have also managed to recover Rs 4.03 crore that was stolen from the shop,” an investigator added.
