An old wada in Kasba Peth caught fire in the early hours of Monday. No casualties were reported in the incident.
The Pune Fire Brigade received a call around 4 am regarding the fire that broke out at a three-storeyed old wada located in a lane in Kasba Peth.
Fire officials said there were no residents in the old and dilapidated wada for the last many years.
Six fire tenders and water tankers were pressed into action. Fire officer K Chowdhary said, “The cause of fire was not known. But there were many wooden structures in the old wada. The front of the wada is two storeys and the rear side has three floors. It took about an hour to douse the flames and bring the situation under control. The wada has been closed for the last two decades. Nobody was present inside, and so no one was hurt.”
