As the curtain falls on 2023, Google India has unveiled the year’s top trending searches. Shah Rukh Khan’s film, Jawan, claimed the top spot as the most searched film in India, while Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi’s web show, Farzi, clinched the title of the most searched show.
Top trending personality in India:
Kiara Advani emerged as the leading personality in India, dominating the trending People list, and also securing a notable position on the global actors list. Her husband, actor Sidharth Malhotra, also made waves as the sixth most searched personality in India. The couple, who tied the knot in February, continued to captivate the attention of their fans. Reality show star and YouTuber Elvish Yadav also made it to the list and became the fifth most searched personality in India.

On a somber note, 2023 witnessed the loss of two beloved stars, Bollywood actor Satish Kaushik and Friends star Matthew Perry. Both personalities featured prominently in the top trending searches in India (news events). Satish Kaushik passed away on March 9, 2023, while Matthew Perry breathed his last on October 28.
Most searched shows in India:
Local OTT content dominated the trending shows, with Farzi claiming the top spot, followed by the American series Wednesday at second place. Indian shows like Asur and Rana Naidu secured the third and fourth positions. Other Indian shows featured on the list were Scam 2003 (6th spot), Bigg Boss 17 (7th spot), Guns and Gulaabs (8th spot), and Taaza Khabar (10th spot). The American post-apocalyptic drama, The Last of Us, secured the fifth spot.
Most searched films in India:
In the realm of cinema, while the global Barbenheimer phenomenon garnered international attention, Indian films made their mark in the digital landscape. Jawan emerged as the top trending local film search and ranked #3 globally. The highly anticipated Gadar 2 secured the second spot, with Pathaan following closely at the fifth position. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer claimed the third spot in India. Other films making waves included Adah Sharma’s The Kerala Story (6th spot), Rajinikatnth’s Jailer (7th spot), Vijay’s Leo (8th spot), Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 (9th spot), and Vijay’s another film Varisu (10th spot). Arijit Singh’s soulful melody Kesariya earned the #2 spot on the global list of most searched songs.
