Maharashtra Dy CM Ajit Pawar presents supplementary demands worth Rs 55,520 crore | Mumbai News

The state Finance minister and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar Thursday presented supplementary demands worth Rs 55,520.77 crore for financial year 2023-24 on the first day of the Winter Session of the state legislature in Nagpur.

This is the highest supplementary demand sought by the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde led state government since he became the CM.

The supplementary demands are additional funds sought by the government over the budgetary allocation.

In July 2023, during the Monsoon Session, the government had presented supplementary demands worth Rs Rs 41,243.21 crore, while in February 2023, during the Budget Session, supplementary demands worth Rs 6,383.97 crore were presented.

Of the total supplementary demands, Rs 19,244.34 crore are the mandatory expenditure while the demands worth Rs 32,792.81 crore are for various ongoing programmes and schemes of the state government.

Of the total supplementary demands, the government has proposed an highest allocation of Rs 5492.38 crore for Public Works Department, which is with BJP leader and minister Ravindra Chavan, followed by the proposed allocation of Rs 5351.66 crore for the Department of Agriculture which is with NCP leader Dhananjay Munde, Rs 5015.12 crore for Urban Development department which is with CM Shinde, Rs 4878.67 crore for Department of Industries, Energy, Labor and Mines and Rs 4019.18 crore for the Rural Development Department.

The government has proposed an allocation of Rs 3555.16 crore for Water Supply and Sanitation Department and and Rs 3495.37 crore for Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance.

Apart from that Rs 3476.77 crores have been sought for the Department of School Education and Sports , Rs 3377.62 crore for Department of Other Backward Bahujan Welfare, Rs 3081.29 crore for Department of Medical Education and Medicines and Rs 2952.54 crore have been allocated for the Department of Home Affairs.

Besides that, supplementary demands worth Rs 3,483.62 crore are towards the state’s contribution to the ongoing schemes of the Union government
