In the Rajya Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday made a series of statements emphasising the Modi government’s commitment to ensuring justice for the displaced Kashmiri people. Shah emphasised the negative consequences of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, attributing its existence to the rise of separatism and, as a result, the promotion of terrorism.
The recent Supreme Court verdict on Jammu and Kashmir was characterised as a significant defeat for opposition parties, according to Shah, who emphasised the importance of rejecting claims that Article 370 is ‘permanent,’ calling such assertions insults to the Constitution and Constituent Assembly. Shah asserted India’s claim to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), declaring it an integral part of the country that cannot be given up.
