The director of United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation, Christopher Wray, will visit India next week, confirmed US ambassador to India Eric Garcetti.

The FBI director’s plans to come to India comes at a time when the US government is investigating an alleged plot to assassinate Sikh radical Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on American soil.

Earlier, US had alleged the involvement of an Indian officials in a suspected plot to kill Khalistani radical Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

The India government has already established a committe to probe into the claims and has promised to take action after the probe is over.

The issue of the Pannun’s killing was earlier discussed during US Principal Deputy National Security Advisor (NSA) Jon Finer’s visit to Delhi last week. During his visit, he held talks with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

With his meet, this will Wray first visit to India since taking charge in 2017.

According to a report in the Indian Express, preparations have started and the NIA will discuss a range of issues like cases against Pannun, US-based gangster Darmanjot Singh Kahlon, who supplied weapons to eliminate popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

The two sides will also discuss about Khalistan supporters allegedly vandalising the Indian Consulate in San Francisco in March.
