The recent tiff between former India players S Sreesanth and Gautam Gambhir took a worse turn on Thursday after the former commented on the latter’s Instagram post, calling the batter “an arrogant and utterly classless individual.”

Gambhir had earlier in the evening posted a picture of him smiling in an Indian jersey with the caption, “Smile when the world is all about attention!” which was a veiled dig at the situation with Sreesanth which escalated after the Legends League match between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants on Wednesday.

Under the post Sreesanth commented, “You have exceeded the boundaries of a sportsman and a brother, and above all, you represent the people. Yet, you continue to engage in conflicts with every cricketer. What is the matter with you? All I did was smile and observe, and you labeled me a fixer? Seriously? Are you above the Supreme Court? You have no authority to speak in such a manner and say whatever you please. You even verbally abused the umpires, and yet you speak of smiling? You are an arrogant and utterly classless individual who lacks any form of respect for those who supported you.”

“Until yesterday, I always held respect for you and your family. However, you used the derogatory term “fixer” not just once, but seven or eight times. You even resorted to using the F-word towards the umpires and myself, persistently trying to provoke me. Anyone who has experienced what I have endured would never forgive you. Deep down, you know that what you said and did was wrong. Im sure even God wont forgive you. You didn’t even come to the field aftwr that..Come on, God is watching everything,” the 40-year-old said.

On Thursday morning, in an emotional video posted on his Instagram channel, Sreesanth had revealed what Gambhir said to him during their angry exchange during the match.

“Fixer, fixer, you’re a fixer… you f**k off, fixer. He kept saying that,” revealed Sreesanth in an Instagram live video on his handle. “He kept on calling me that, on live television on the centre of the wicket. This is the language he used on live TV. He also told the same thing in front of umpires as they tried to control him.”

Festive offer

Sreesanth added: “I did not say a single bad word or an abusive word at him. I only kept saying ‘what are you saying?’ Then I laughed in a sarcastic way.”
