Educators should inculcate such values among law students that they do not take up cases of people involved in terrorist activities as part of their work ethics, Cabinet Minister for Higher & Technical Education, Law & Justice and Health & Family Welfare Rushikesh Patel said Monday.

“Currently, the future of India is in the hands of youths. If you are teaching law, then such values should be instilled in them as ethics to not take up the cases of people connected with terrorist activities as it damages the country,” Patel said as he addressed a workshop of university vice-chancellors, administrators and educationists at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar. The workshop was organised as part of ‘Viksit Bharat@2047 – Voice of Youth’ initiative during which Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched ‘Viksit Bharat@2047 Ideas Portal’.

On similar lines, Patel said medical students should be taught that as doctors they should not be charging at least one among 10 cases who come from a poor background. Similarly, he added, if somebody becomes a businessman, then he should share the profit with his employees. “Such small things will play a big role in making India developed,” Patel said.

The minister also emphasised the goal of making India developed by 2047. While he asserted that the government would do whatever was necessary for the development of youth, he also sought participation of the society.

Governor warns against fertilisers

Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, who also addressed the workshop, congratulated on the Supreme Court verdict upholding the abrogation of Article 370. Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he said that none would have even thought about such a decision.

Festive offer

Devvrat, an advocate of natural farming, urged educators to spread word on the hazardous effects of chemical-based farming and the benefits of natural farming.

Citing his recent meeting with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the Governor said, “The doctors at AIIMS have done research that in areas like Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra where farmers are widely using chemicals like urea and DAP for farming, the young generation will lose their reproduction ability. This concern has been expressed (in the report)…Their very DNA has been altered by the poison (chemical fertilisers).”
